Add a Local Group page

Create a page, choose its Group Home and menu settings, then publish it.

Before you start: Sign in as an Admin with Pages access and an assigned public Local Group. This guide shows the Local Group workspace.

How to use this lesson

Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.

“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Select “Pages”

In the real Admin Portal, find Pages in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.

Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

  1. Select “Pages”

    In the real Admin Portal, find Pages in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.

  2. Open “Local Group”

    Click or tap the Local Group list to see its choices.

  3. Select “Community Council”

    If you are assigned more than one Local Group, choose the group first. With one group, this selector is not shown.

  4. Check the selection

    “Community Council” is now selected in Local Group.

  5. Select Add Page

    Click Add Page. This example uses an Admin assigned to a public Local Group.

  6. Select “Page title”

    Click or tap inside the Page title box.

  7. Enter page title

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Community Hub”.

  8. Check the Local Group

    If Connected to Local Group is shown, check the right group is selected. In this workspace, there is no separate summary, icon or colour field.

  9. Select “Writing box”

    Write the page content. You can insert a saved Form using the Writing box if you have Forms access.

  10. Enter writing box

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Welcome to the Community Hub. Find local activities and useful information here.”.

  11. Select Save

    Click Save at the bottom of the form. Publication is controlled from the Pages list.

  12. Switch on “Group Home”

    Set this as the group’s main page. It must appear in the menu. You cannot switch off the current Group Home directly; choose a different page as Group Home instead.

  13. Check the switch is on

    “Group Home” is now on. Check this matches the choice you want.

  14. Check Appear in Menu

    Leave Appear in Menu on so residents can find the page in the group’s navigation. Turning it off removes the menu link; it does not itself unpublish the page.

  15. Switch off “Published”

    Switch Published off while you are not ready for residents to read it. This saves immediately.

  16. Check the switch is off

    “Published” is now off. Check this matches the choice you want.

  17. Switch on “Published”

    Switch Published on when the page is ready. Publication and menu visibility are separate settings.

  18. Check the switch is on

    “Published” is now on. Check this matches the choice you want.

  19. Copy the direct link

    Copy places the page’s direct address on your clipboard. You can paste it into a message or document.

  20. See the Local Group page

    Residents can open the group from Home and use its menu. Community Admins have a different Pages workspace for standalone pages and publication control; Group Home and Menu are managed by assigned Admins.
