Add an Emergency page

Choose the title, summary, icon and content, then save the page.

Before you start: Sign in to the real Admin Portal. Your Community Admin must have given you access to this area.

How to use this lesson

Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.

“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Select “Emergency”

In the real Admin Portal, find Emergency in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.

Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

  1. Select “Emergency”

    In the real Admin Portal, find Emergency in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.

  2. Select Create page

    Click Create page at the top of Emergency.

  3. Select “Title”

    Click or tap inside the Title box.

  4. Enter title

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Preparing for a power cut”.

  5. Select “Short summary”

    Click or tap inside the Short summary box.

  6. Enter short summary

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Local preparation information and useful contacts.”.

  7. Select “Power cut”

    Select the Power cut icon for this example.

  8. Check the selection

    “Power cut” is now selected in Icon.

  9. Select “Accent colour”

    Choose the accent colour for the page.

  10. Check accent colour

    The selected colour is now shown. This example uses #2378CC. Choose a colour that keeps the wording easy to read.

  11. Select “Writing box”

    Write approved local guidance. This example is for training; check real advice with your community before publishing.

  12. Enter writing box

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Keep a torch and battery radio ready. Follow your community’s published plan for local support.”.

  13. Select Save

    Save creates the page and makes it available in the Emergency section.

  14. See the Emergency page

    Residents open Emergency and tap the new page. You can reopen it from the portal list to edit it, or use Hide in the editor to remove it from view.
