Edit, hide or remove a map pin
Set the name, category, position and visibility of a map item.
Before you start: Sign in to the real Admin Portal. Your Community Admin must have given you access to this area.
How to use this lesson
Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.
“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Select “Map”
In the real Admin Portal, find Map in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.
Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

Select “Map”
In the real Admin Portal, find Map in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.
Select Edit beside the pin
Find the pin under Shown on map. Use the filter if needed, then select Edit.
Select “Name”
Check or enter a clear, accurate name for this place.
Enter name
Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Defibrillator at Community Hub”.
Open “Category”
Click or tap the Category list to see its choices.
Select “Defibrillator”
Choose House for a home, or the matching asset category for a community resource.
Check the selection
“Defibrillator” is now selected in Category.
Place the pin
Click the map at the exact location. Drag the map to move it and use + or − to zoom. This portal picker places a pin where you click.
Check the pin position
Check the marker is in the right place before saving. Move it again if necessary.
Select Save
Click this button once and wait for the map list to return.
Check the saved pin
The pin is in Shown on map. Publish controls whether residents can see it; switching it off hides it without deleting it.
Switch off “Publish”
Switch Publish off to hide the pin. This saves immediately.
Check the switch is off
“Publish” is now off. Check this matches the choice you want.
Switch on “Publish”
Switch Publish on to show the pin again.
Check the switch is on
“Publish” is now on. Check this matches the choice you want.
Reopen Edit to remove a pin
Select Edit. Permanent deletion is protected by an exact-name check.
Select “Delete safeguard”
Only when you intend to delete: type the exact pin name in Delete safeguard, then use Delete. Cancel leaves the pin unchanged.
Enter delete safeguard
Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Defibrillator at Community Hub”.
Cancel this example deletion
Select Cancel to keep the demonstration pin. Deletion is permanent in the real portal.
See the resident map
Published resource pins appear on the resident map. Residents can filter by community assets and category.
