Set up the community map
Configure asset categories, the default map view and filter labels.
Before you start: Sign in to the real Admin Portal. Your Community Admin must have given you access to this area.
How to use this lesson
Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.
“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Select “Map”
In the real Admin Portal, find Map in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.
Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

Select “Map”
In the real Admin Portal, find Map in the left-hand menu and click it. On a small screen, open the navigation menu first.
Find Community asset options
Scroll below the map pin lists to Community asset options. These categories describe resources such as generators and warm spaces.
Select Create new category
Click Create new category.
Select “Name”
Click or tap inside the Name box.
Enter name
Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Community Hub”.
Open “Pin colour”
Click or tap the Pin colour list to see its choices.
Select “Blue”
Choose one of the available pin colours. Colours already used by another category are unavailable.
Check the selection
“Blue” is now selected in Pin colour.
Save category
Click Save category. Duplicate category names are not allowed.
Edit existing categories
Edit changes a category name or colour. Remove is available only when no map items use the category.
Set the opening map view
Scroll to Default map view. Drag the map to centre your community, then use + and − to choose the opening zoom level.
Save the default view
Click Save default view. This is a separate save from asset categories and filter labels.
Select “First filter label”
Scroll to Map filter labels. Enter the name residents should see for house pins.
Enter first filter label
Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Homes”.
Select “Second filter label”
Enter the name for the resource filter. Each label needs at least two characters.
Enter second filter label
Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Community resources”.
Save labels
Click Save labels to apply the two names.
See the resident map
Residents now see the chosen opening position and filter names. Asset categories determine which resources they can filter and submit.
