Get to know Community Ready

Find Home, Events, News, Map, Emergency and More, and make text easier to read.

Before you start: Open Community Ready and select your community. These examples use Community. You do not need an administrator login.

How to use this lesson

Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.

“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Start on Home

Tap Home at the bottom of the app. This brings you back to your community’s news, upcoming events and community pages.

Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

Read all instructions together

  1. Start on Home

    Tap Home at the bottom of the app. This brings you back to your community’s news, upcoming events and community pages.

  2. Find Events on Home

    Scroll down to Events. Tap See all beside the Events heading to open the full events list. Events is not a separate bottom tab.

  3. Browse the Events list

    Tap an event to read its details. If there is more than one page, use Next below the list.

  4. Return to Home

    Use your device’s back control to return from the Events list to Home.

  5. Select News

    Tap News at the bottom of the app to see all community news.

  6. Read a news story

    Tap a story’s title or picture to open the full article.

  7. Select Map

    Tap Map at the bottom of the app to find local places and community resources.

  8. Use map filters

    The filter button lets you choose All, Houses or Community assets. Your community may use different names for the last two.

  9. Select Emergency

    Tap Emergency at the bottom of the app to open local guidance and available support links.

  10. Open local guidance

    Tap a page to read it. These are local information pages; use the appropriate emergency service when needed.

  11. Select More

    Tap More at the bottom right. This is where you can change text size and contact your community.

  12. Make the app easier to read

    Choose Large, Larger or Largest under Text size. High contrast adds stronger borders and text contrast. These settings apply across the app.

  13. Using the public website?

    The website puts News, Events, Map and community pages on one long page. Scroll down to reach them. It does not have the app’s bottom tabs or More screen.
