Submit an event on the website

Complete each field and send your suggestion for administrator approval.

Before you start: Open Community Ready and select your community. These examples use Community. You do not need an administrator login.

How to use this lesson

Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.

“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

Select “Submit an event”

On your community’s public website, scroll to Events. Select Submit an event beside the heading. On a small screen the button says Submit.

Look at the example. Then select Next when you are ready.

  1. Select “Submit an event”

    On your community’s public website, scroll to Events. Select Submit an event beside the heading. On a small screen the button says Submit.

  2. Select “Event title”

    Click or tap the title box. Use a short title that explains your story or event.

  3. Enter event title

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Coffee morning at the Village Hall”.

  4. Open “Event date”

    Click or tap the Event date list to see its choices.

  5. Select “Saturday, 10 October 2026”

    Choose your event’s actual date. The list starts from today, so the dates on your screen will differ.

  6. Check the selection

    “Saturday, 10 October 2026” is now selected in Event date.

  7. Open “Start time”

    Click or tap the Start time list to see its choices.

  8. Select “10:30”

    Choose the start time. This example starts at half past ten in the morning.

  9. Check the selection

    “10:30” is now selected in Start time.

  10. Select “Venue”

    Enter the place where the event will take place.

  11. Enter venue

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Village Hall”.

  12. Select “Details”

    Write the details you want residents to read.

  13. Enter details

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Join neighbours for tea, coffee and a chat. Everyone is welcome.”.

  14. Choose upload an image

    Adding a picture is optional. Use a clear landscape image; JPG, PNG or WebP works on the website. Select the file on your device, then select Open or Choose in your device’s file picker.

  15. Check the selected file

    Wait for the upload to finish. This example uses village-hall.jpg. Your device’s file picker may look different.

  16. Select “Your name”

    Enter your own name so an administrator knows who sent this.

  17. Enter your name

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Alex Campbell”.

  18. Select “Phone and/or email”

    Enter a phone number or email address. You can supply both, separated by a comma.

  19. Enter phone and/or email

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “alex@example.org”.

  20. Submit for approval

    Check the details, then select Submit for approval once. Wait for the confirmation. Your name and contact details are only kept while the administrator reviews the submission.

  21. Check the confirmation

    The submission is waiting for an administrator to approve it. It is not public yet. If you see an error instead, check your connection and try again.
