Submit an event in the app

Complete each field and send your suggestion for administrator approval.

Before you start: Open Community Ready and select your community. These examples use Community. You do not need an administrator login.

How to use this lesson

Read the instruction, then look at the pointer on the example screen. Click or tap Next below when you are ready. The example screen is a demonstration. It cannot save, send or change anything.

“Select” means click once with a mouse, or tap once with a finger. You can go back, restart or take a break at any time.

  1. Select Home

    Tap Home at the bottom of the app.

  2. Open all Events

    Scroll to Events and tap See all.

  3. Select “Submit an event”

    Scroll to the bottom of the Events list and tap Submit an event.

  4. Select “Event title”

    Click or tap the title box. Use a short title that explains your story or event.

  5. Enter event title

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Coffee morning at the Village Hall”.

  6. Open Event date and time

    Tap the box under Event date and time to open the calendar.

  7. Choose the month

    Use the arrows beside the month name until your event’s month is shown.

  8. Choose the day

    Tap the event’s date in the calendar. Here we use the 10th.

  9. Open “Start time”

    Click or tap the Start time list to see its choices.

  10. Select “10:30”

    Choose the event’s start time.

  11. Check the selection

    “10:30” is now selected in Start time.

  12. Confirm the date and time

    Tap Use this date to return to your event form.

  13. Select “Venue”

    Enter the place where the event will take place.

  14. Enter venue

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Village Hall”.

  15. Select “Details”

    Write the details you want residents to read.

  16. Enter details

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Join neighbours for tea, coffee and a chat. Everyone is welcome.”.

  17. Choose image upload

    Adding a picture is optional. Use a clear landscape image; JPG, PNG or WebP works on the website. Tap Upload from device, choose a photo from your library and confirm your selection. Allow access to the selected photo if your phone asks.

  18. Check the selected file

    Wait for the upload to finish. This example uses village-hall.jpg. Your device’s file picker may look different.

  19. Select “Your name”

    Enter your own name so an administrator knows who sent this.

  20. Enter your name

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “Alex Campbell”.

  21. Select “Phone and/or email”

    Enter a phone number or email address. You can supply both, separated by a comma.

  22. Enter phone and/or email

    Type your own details here. In this example, we have entered “alex@example.org”.

  23. Submit for approval

    Check the details, then select Submit for approval once. Wait for the confirmation. Your name and contact details are only kept while the administrator reviews the submission.

  24. Check the confirmation

    The submission is waiting for an administrator to approve it. It is not public yet. If you see an error instead, check your connection and try again.
